Scandal at the Olympic Games

Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson was stripped of the 100 m gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics after testing positive for banned steroids. Just after Johnson winning the race, the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission informed the Canadian officials that Johnson’s urine samples contained stanozolol, a banned anabolic steroid. Carl Lewis, who originally won the silver medal, was awarded the gold medal and Linford Christie the silver.

23rd January is the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, 30th January is Martyr’s Day, 1st May is the World Labourer’s Day, 2nd October is the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and 25th December is Christmas. Who composed the national song of India?

The song Vande-Mataram first appeared in Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s Anandamath. Tagore composed the tune of the song and sang at the 12th session of the Indian National Congress in 1896. In 1904, the first gramophone record of the song in Tagore’s voice came in the market.
