‘Mohenjo-Daro’ or ‘the mound of the dead’
The people of the Sindh province of current-day Pakistan were the ones who coined the name ‘Mohenjo-Daro’. The name, in Sindhi, means ‘the mound of the dead’.

Population explosion in Asia
Asia, the largest continent on Earth, has a total land area of 44,579,000 square kilometers. It constitutes 30 per cent of the total available land area. The continent tops the list even in terms of population. More than 4.1 billion people reside in Asia, which is 60 per cent of the entire global population, with a population density of 87 persons per square kilometer.

How much Indian currency can one carry out of India?
The Reserve Bank of India, on June 19, 2014, declared that residents and non-residents, except individuals from Pakistan and Bangladesh, would be allowed to carry up to Rs 25,000 when exiting the country. This was a major shift from the earlier limit of Rs 10,000 that was allowed only to residents of India. In 2013, the RBI had issued a directive that prohibited non-resident Indians (NRIs) and foreign nationals from carrying any amount of Indian currency out of the country.

The first captain to concede a One Day International match against Pakistan
Bishen Singh Bedi became the first captain in November 1978 to concede a One Day International cricket match against Pakistan at Sahiwal. India, with eight wickets in hand, required only 23 runs from 14 balls to win the match. Sarfraz Nawaz bowled four consecutive bouncers and not one was called wide by the Pakistani umpires. Reacting to this, Bedi called the batsmen from the crease and conceded the match in protest.

Kargil Vijay Diwas – A homage to war martyrs
Also known as Kargil Vijay Diwas, on this day in 1999, the Kargil conflict between India and Pakistan officially came to an end, when the Indian Army announced the complete eviction of Pakistani intruders. The Indian forces successfully took command of the outposts lost to the Pakistani army.
